Impacts of Asian air pollution on climate and environment of the Arctic
Arctic temperatures have increased more rapidly than the global average during recent decades. Black carbon (BC) aerosols heat atmosphere and reduce surface albedo of snow and ice by absorbing solar radiation, leading to accelerate the global warming. We examine sources of BC transported to the Arctic and BC deposited on the Arctic using model simulations. We study the impacts of BC on the Arctic warming and contribute to international activities such as the Arctic Council.
