First analysis for concurrent observations of NO2 and CO2 from power plant plumes using airborne remote sensing

In this study, we analyzed the plumes of nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and carbon dioxide (CO2) concurrently emitted from power plant using the airborne measurements.
We, for the first time, performed concurrent airborne observations for NO2 and CO2. Then, we demonstrated that the CO2 plume shapes were well identified due to constraint by NO2 measurements. This fact indicates that the concurrent observations of NO2 and CO2 with a high spatial resolution of km-scale in the future enable us to identify CO2 plumes emitted from the point source of interest with a stack-level scale even under the existence of the other anthropogenic sources by using the NO2 plume constraint.
